O Sweet Jesus, grant that your grace – power – may triumph in me and empower me to persevere through life’s trials with eyes set squarely on you.
After beholding Jesus’ Transfiguration, the Gospel account continues: “Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them” (Mark 9:8).
Jesus alone.
Intentional disciples receive divine consolations neither as entertainment nor as ends in themselves, but always as God’s gifts graciously given that enable us to grow hope.
Jesus alone.
Everything else – consolations, assistance, friendships, affirmation – are good to the extent that God permits us to enjoy them. If removed by God’s hand, let us never be derailed: Jesus alone.
