Holy Orders

“’Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.’”

Mark 10:43-44

Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, a priest receives grace to equip him for a mission of self-offering for his brothers and sisters in the faith.

Priests do not act on the basis of their own authority, but rather “in persona Christi.” That is, the Sacrament of Holy Orders, bestows upon priests the power of Christ Who is grafted onto him.

The Sacrament of Holy Orders, has three degrees: bishop, priest and deacon.
