Confirmation

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you
were sealed for the day of redemption.”

Ephesians 4:30

Confirmation equips us with grace – divine power – to step out onto the field of life and flourish as a follower of Christ and member of His Church.

“Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent
them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the holy Spirit, for
it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 8:14-17

“Remember, then, that you received a spiritual seal, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of knowledge and reverence, the spirit of holy fear. Keep safe what you received. God the Father sealed you, Christ the Lord strengthened you and sent the Spirit into your hearts as the pledge of what is to come.”

St. Ambrose

In the Diocese of Toledo, the bishop has set 8th grade as the typical age to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is for parents to make sure that their children receive this Sacrament.

If your teenage child has been baptized but has not received the Sacrament of Confirmation during their 8th grade year, please contact:
