Andrew and Philip have been with Jesus from the first days of the Gospel, yet they still have much more to learn from Jesus’ attempt to draw them beyond the limitations of their worldly expectations. Instead of saying to Jesus, “You can feed them”, they only seek an earthly solution.
There are 3 times during every Sunday when we offer God who we are and what we have.
Before Mass A consumer makes their way to Mass thinking what will I get out of this, however, an intentional disciple instead seeks to offering themselves to God, even when their offering seems very small.
Before the Opening Prayer Immediately after the Gloria, the priest says, “Let us pray.” This signals the moment for all the faithful to offer themselves again to God in the silence before the Opening Prayer is voiced aloud.
During the Preparation of Gifts As bread and wine are presented to the priest and set atop the altar for the Church’s offering, the faithful again offer themselves to God as they are, confident the Lord will receive them, however small they may seem in the eyes of the world.
Whenever we sincerely give ourselves to God – that is, we offer ourselves to God exactly as we are – God receives us and returns grace and mercy extravagantly.
