When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, He answered with a call to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. But He didn’t stop there. He also reminded us to love our neighbor as ourselves.
In this week’s Pastor’s Ponderings, Fr. Dave explores what the Church calls the “twofold yet single commandment of love.”
Loving God means offering Him every part of ourselves, not just the parts of our lives that feel comfortable or put together. It means turning to Him in moments of worry, frustration, distress, and uncertainty.
At the same time, we’re called to love our neighbors, including those who may challenge us. Rather than seeing others as irritations, opponents, or obstacles, Fr. Dave encourages us to recognize each encounter as an opportunity to love.
These two commandments are inseparable and form the foundation of Christian living.
Watch this week’s Pastor’s Ponderings and reflect on how you can more fully love God and the people He places in your life.
