Dear Friends United in Love of Christ and His Church:

I have an urgent plea.

I need you to take a moment to pray for all of those afflicted by the ravaging damage from Hurricane Helene across the entire southern US.  Please, whisper one right now, begging Jesus for mercy to be given to those suffering most severely.

The most recent fatality count is 133 people dead with more than 600 still missing. Western North Carolina has been especially ravaged by the storm’s fury with more than 1,000,000 people marooned and without electricity and hundreds of thousands more in flooded areas without clean water and access to medical care.

The situation is absolutely dire.

Pray for those people in such terrible plight. Pray for those who are assisting to remain strong, healthy and compassionate. Pray for us all that we may be generous in our continuing prayers and considerate in helping through financial donation.

At all weekend Masses we will suspend our our normal monthly “Assistance Fund” collection,  and instead designate our extra collection for Hurricane Helene disaster relief.

Lord Jesus, please have mercy.
