Preaching Notes – 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time [Year A]

It is not so much what we say that matters, but what we do. Mature religion is not measured in words, but in actions. Notice especially that the character whom Jesus elevates is the one who “changed his mind” (Matthew 21:29). The biblical word is metamelomai which infers remorse, regret and genuine concern that moves one to act differently.

Our convictions must be reflected in the way that we live or they are no convictions at all.
