During the Lent, the Church summons us to the great combat: “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

Of course, no matter how intense or terrifying the temptation is experienced, the adversary cannot conquer the love of Christ and never lessen the absolute and total victory He has won for us!

We combat the adversary by getting back to Christian basics. When our heart – the core of our being – is anchored firmly in God, we will never be drawn away from His service by any attraction for, or envy of, earthly things e.g. wealth, power, pleasure, honor.
