Towards A More Meaningful Lent – Some Ideas (16 February 2026)

  1. Ask God what He wants you to give up this Lent
  2. A Lenten act of self-denial is not supposed to derail your life, not out it to be taken out on those around you! Be simple, prudent and charitable with whatever you choose to do without.
  3. Remember that whatever you choose does not have to remain in force for the entire six weeks. You might realize that you need to adjust. The point of the act of penance is for your life to be more fruitful. Don’t stubbornly persist with anything that is unhelpful.
  4. Lent is the time to give us something good when we have an attachment to it. It is no penance of give up sinful behavior which should not be happening. Whatever your Lenten plans, make no room for sin.
