Blessed New Year (1 January 2026)

Saint Irenaeus marvelously captures the essence of Christianity in this manner:

The glory of God is a human being fully alive.

Throughout this new year, let’s avail ourselves ever more of God’s help to forgo the trivial and superficial; that is, appearing religious. Instead, let us dare to commitment to connect with God daily in order that divine grace fashions us in more substantial ways.

So, also, may we commit to helping shape communities of intentional disciples – Catholic parishes and schools – in far more substantial ways that truly make the world better just as Christ Himself expects of His Church.

Less Trivial

  • Less religious consumption, greater Gospel living
  • Less screen time, greater personal interaction
  • Less church / political / cultural intrigue, greater positive impact

More Substantial

  • Praying daily and throughout each day
  • Striving for virtue, not merely avoiding sin
  • Forgiving and accepting forgiveness
  • Deepening friendships
  • Seeking to recognize God’s Will and following it obediently and cheerfully
  • Practicing generosity
  • Growing thankfulness
  • Loving God and loving others.
