Why did God come and make Himself so little and poor for us?

God chose to be born far from home, so little and so poor:

• in a stable,
• wrapped on swaddling clothes and
• placed in a manger – a food trough.

Why did God make Himself so little and poor for us?

It is as if God said to Himself: “Humanity does not love Me because they cannot see Me.

I will show myself to them and then they will see my love for them. I will show myself to them in a form that they will approach me and meet me – little and poor.”

In Jesus, God’s love for us becomes visible, it really appears.

Little and poor because God comes for everyone. God so deeply desires our love that He comes to us in a way that we will make our way to Him. Today, God speaks to everyone: “I love you.”
