Marvelously inspired by the Holy Spirit, Luke writes two volumes.
In addition to the Gospel of Luke that culminates in Jesus’ commissioning [the disciples], departing and being taken into heaven, Luke also writes a second volume – a sequel to his Gospel. The Acts of the Apostles chronicles the reception of the Holy Spirit – “the power on high” (Lk 24:49) – and the impact of the disciples giving witness to Jesus’ message of repentance for the forgiveness of sins [what Jesus commissioned them to do (Luke 24:48)].
And here we are today, far removed from that beginning – as it were, we are at “the ends of the earth” from its origin.
Here we are in our own failures and in our own blessedness, witnesses ourselves to the exact same Truth that God forgives those who fail and brings goodness and joy to those who, like the first disciples, worship Him.
