Right on the heels of yesterday’s joyful celebration of the Church triumphant and imploring ALL SAINTS to pray with us and to pray for us, today we tenderly recall the Church suffering. On today’s feast of ALL SOULS we pound heaven’s door for the souls in purgatory:

“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord”

The Church triumphant helps us, the Church militant, along our way so that we reach our proper heavenly home. In turn, we passionately hasten to the help of the Church suffering.

Death has taken from us those we love. And love continues to unite us as we devotedly pray them into the glory of Paradise.

May the truth of Love’s ultimate power making possible our one day being reunited with them deepen our zeal to pray for the beloved departed and may it also make us more courageous in embracing suffering in reparation for our failings.
